How Long Will a Power Station Run a CPAP?
A CPAP uses about 30 to 60 W without the heated humidifier. A 1 kWh station runs one for two to three nights; with the humidifier on, plan for about one night per kWh.
nights ≈ battery Wh × 0.85 ÷ (CPAP watts × hours slept)
The heated humidifier is the biggest factor. Turning it off, or using a DC power cord made for your machine, can more than double the nights you get.
How much power does a CPAP use?
- CPAP only, no humidifier: about 30 to 60 W, depending on pressure. We use 40 W.
- With heated humidifier: about 60 to 110 W. We use 90 W.
- With heated tubing too: can exceed 100 W.
Your machine's manual or power brick label gives the maximum. Real use is usually lower.
Nights of runtime
Based on 8 hours of sleep a night.
| Power station | Capacity | No humidifier (40 W) | With humidifier (90 W) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 | 1,024 Wh | 2.7 nights | 1.2 nights |
| Bluetti Elite 200 V2 | 2,073 Wh | 5.5 nights | 2.4 nights |
| EcoFlow DELTA 3 Ultra Plus | 3,072 Wh | 8.2 nights | 3.6 nights |
| Anker SOLIX F3800 Plus | 3,840 Wh | 10.2 nights | 4.5 nights |
| Jackery Explorer 5000 Plus | 5,040 Wh | 13.4 nights | 6.0 nights |
These nights assume the CPAP is the only thing plugged in. A phone charger and a lamp add little; a fridge uses far more than the CPAP.
Tips to get more nights
- Turn off the humidifier during an outage if you can sleep comfortably without it.
- Use a DC cord. Most CPAP makers sell a 12V or 24V DC cable. Plugging into the station's DC port skips the inverter and its losses.
- Turn off the station's AC output when nothing else needs it. An idle inverter uses power on its own.
- Recharge by day from solar panels or a car outlet.
Which size should you buy?
For CPAP alone, a 1 kWh station covers a long weekend. If you also need the fridge and internet, look at a 2 kWh station such as the Bluetti Elite 200 V2. If your CPAP is medically essential, talk to your doctor or equipment supplier about a backup plan as well.
